Below you will find an archive (in chronological order) of all past entries from the "What's New?" section of this site's opening splash page, as they have appeared since the creation of Leni's Rising Star. Please note that certain older links may no longer work (or perhaps the page has since moved to another location on this site), and other references may only make sense if one takes into account that these announcements were initially presented on the splash page — however, rest assured that at one time, at least, everything here did make sense and work correctly!

2002-08-10

2002-08-19

There is now a new Leni Riefenstahl Screensaver available in the Downloads section, the Resources section is now virtually completed, and our LEN-E List has a growing group of enthusiastic and well-informed members — come join in on what's been some very interesting and enlightening discussion!

2002-09-22

Two new digital art desktop wallpapers are now available in the Downloads section.

Wondering where the Leni's birthday fireworks went? They didn't go far! Click here to view them in a separate full-screen pop-up window (requires a Java- and JavaScript-enabled browser)!

2003-04-21

Well! It's been a while since the last major update to the site (apart from a couple of new Desktop Wallpapers which were added over these last months), but the downloads section of the site has now been expanded into separate sections, with the most notable addition (at the moment) being the Leni Riefenstahl Video Downloads (Part One: The Arnold Fanck Bergfilms) page.

Stay tuned! More to come in that section in the future!

2003-08-22  Happy 101st Birthday, Leni!

Leni's Rising Star, and the members of The LEN-E Discussion List, extend their warmest and happiest regards on the occasion of Leni Riefenstahl's 101st birthday! We wish her both peace and health, with the further wish that there may be only continued growth in the understanding and appreciation of her life and work.

After a brisk start a year ago, unfortunately this past year has a been a bit slow in the development of this site (although there has been some!). However, in honour of Leni's birthday a new piece of artwork has been created, entitled Die Meerjungfrau ("The Mermaid") — view a preview!

2003-09-09  Leni Riefenstahl 1902–2003

At 10:50 PM on September 8th, 2003, Leni Riefenstahl passed away quietly in her home in Pöcking due to heart failure.

In her youth, Leni was bathed in the limelight and embraced by audiences all over Europe, and all over the world — may she now bathe once again not only in light and embrace, but in the greatest Light, and the greatest Embrace, of God.

Rest in peace, Leni.

2003-11-12

Looking for Leni Riefenstahl's films on VHS or DVD? Check the Leni Riefenstahl on Video page — newly revised and updated, including Leni's last film Impressionen unter Wasser and Ray Müller's documentary Ihr Traum von Afrika! More updates to come on this site in the coming months, but in the meantime...

A film festival will be held in Vienna, Austria entitled Arnold Fanck und der Bergfilm, scheduled to run from December 2nd, 2003 until January 20th, 2004. Bookmark the website for Filmarchive Austria for current and additional forthcoming information!

2004-01-30

Several new additions to the Leni Riefenstahl Downloads section, including new desktop wallpaper, additional downloadable videos from Leni Riefenstahl's films (as well as a couple of clips of rarities), plus downloadable audio as well!

2004-03-08

Major site updates! It's been a long time in the works — and there is still much more additional information to come in the future — but there are now cast & production credits, as well as plot synopses, for each and every one of Leni Riefenstahl's films.

In this regard, Leni's Rising Star now provides the most accurate and detailed Leni Riefenstahl filmography of this nature available anywhere, on the web or in print!

2005-03-09

Well, it's been about a year (and a day!) since the last major, "official" update to this site, but it certainly hasn't been entirely unproductive in the interim. Leni's Rising Star strives to present only the most accurate and detailed information that we can, and thus numerous corrections (oops!) and minor updates throughout the site have been made during this period, with additional information continuing to be added as much and as often as time allows. While the majority of the aforementioned changes made over the last year have not been immediately obvious (a name change here, a spelling error there, etc.), return visitors will be pleased to discover the following new, bigger additions to the site:

• A new section on Nicholas Kaufmann & Wilhelm Prager's 1925 film Wege zu Kraft und Schönheit, including various image galleries and an article exclusive to this site on Leni Riefenstahl's Film Début.

• A slight reorganization and improvement to the Leni Riefenstahl Downloads section, along with new additions specifically to the following areas:

  • Five (5) new Leni Riefenstahl Digital Art Wallpapers (a sample of one is shown here at right — click the image to preview a larger version in a pop-up window!)
  • A new, separate page of Das blaue Licht Wallpapers
  • New/updated Leni Riefenstahl Screensavers (for Windows®)
  • Three (3) new clips in the Leni Riefenstahl Video Downloads section, along with additional (and revised) accompanying text.

  Look for the ~NEW!~ designation next to items on the above pages to find these most recent additions!

• External links (to information available on other web sites) specific to the individual films can now be found in the Web Links section of the main pages for each film (for more general information one can still refer to the Selected Leni Riefenstahl Links page, of course).
• In an effort to maintain the quality and accuracy of the information provided at Leni's Rising Star, a new Contributions & Corrections Form has been added virtually everywhere on the site. Look for the box (like the "You Can Contribute!" one below) at the bottom of every page.
• Lastly, as a response to the occasional, uh, "accusation" made against this site, its creator and/or Leni Riefenstahl herself, a small disclaimer has been added to the bottom of this splash page (see below, in red, with the accompanying animation).
