A Comparison of Selected Production Stills

from Wilhelm Prager's Wege zu Kraft und Schönheit
and Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia

Back to Main Page for Wege zu Kraft und Schönheit

Back to Leni Riefenstahl's Film Début

Below is a small selection of stills from Wege zu Kraft und Schönheit (on the left) and from Olympia (on the right). While "similar" stills have been lined up side-by-side, please note that the aim here has not been to indicate that any particular exact shots from Riefenstahl's film had their origins in specific shots from the earlier film, but rather that overall a broad comparison can be made. Indeed, if we do choose to accept (in theory) that Riefenstahl received inspiration from Prager's film, then we can also only acknowledge — as anyone can see even from the few stills shown here — that clearly she far surpassed them in style, quality and technique.

Production Stills from
Nicholas Kaufmann & Wilhelm Prager's
Wege zu Kraft und Schönheit (1925)
Production Stills from
Leni Riefenstahl's
Olympia (1938)
